EduLab, Inc.

EduLab, Inc. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Junichi Takamura; hereinafter referred to as “EduLab”) has announced that its Intelligent Character Recognition (hereinafter “ICR”) DEEP READ will be released in collaboration with ABBYY Japan Co. Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director: Yo Ohara; hereinafter “ABBYY”), a pioneer in Intelligent Document Processing (hereinafter “IDP”) and a leading global company in IDP with offices in 16 locations worldwide.

Background to the initiative

With many companies and organizations across the globe driving rapid intelligent automation to reduce costs, optimize operations, and enhance the customer experience, IDP is fast expanding across industries, countries, and regions.

ABBYY had been using its unique structure recognition technology to digitize images of typed text of unstructured data such as invoices. However, the digitization of handwritten texts posed a challenge for many digital transformation (DX) and document processing projects.

DEEP READ has the capability to convert handwritten characters in a variety of formats into structured digital data, achieving the industry’s highest level of accuracy.

Overview of the Initiative

The combination of ABBYY’s FlexiCapture with EduLab’s ICR DEEP READ will enable the two companies to leverage each other’s technology to achieve highly accurate digitization of handwritten text. Like FlexiCapture, DEEP READ can be provided on-premise, enabling its use in a closed environment that guarantees a high level of security.

Through this strategic partnership, EduLab will continue to provide wide-ranging solutions for intelligent automation, regardless of industry, contributing to enhanced productivity and business efficiency.
